At Stacie + Co., we create memories that last a lifetime through our unique faith-first approach to wedding and event planning. We want our couples to have beautiful weddings. But more importantly, it is our biggest desire for them to have beautiful marriages. So when a couple chooses to host a church wedding ceremony, it sets our heart aflutter. There’s just something so serene about church wedding ceremonies. So, today on the blog, we’re sharing 6 reasons to love a church wedding ceremony.
1. It just feels right. For some couples who are rooted deeply in their faith or in their church, it simply just feels right. When a couple has their sights set on a church ceremony, usually being wed elsewhere was never even a consideration.
2. A picturesque setting. Churches offer endless architectural beauty. From stained glass windows, grand altars, perfectly manicured lawns and romantic architecture, churches make for some of the most beautiful places to be wed.
3. A built in rain plan. It’s no secret that the trend as of late is outdoor ceremonies. But, depending on the time of year, this might not be conducive at your reception venue. Often times, the rain plan is to bring the ceremony indoors or tent the outdoor ceremony space. If you choose to get married indoors in a church and there happens to be inclement weather, you will still have a stunning backdrop.
4. It makes for a memorable guest experience. When a couple hosts their wedding ceremony at a church and their reception elsewhere, it provides them an opportunity to share something extra with their guests. That could mean inviting guests to a place that’s near and dear to their hearts, sightseeing along the way from the ceremony to the reception, or simply extending the overall wedding experience.
5. The sanctity. There’s just something about the way music fills a chapel. There’s something about watching a couple enter into the sacrament of marriage in a sacred place. There’s tangible serenity and peace that is felt in this particular wedding ceremony atmosphere.
6. The forever bond. If you’re a longtime member of the church you get married at, this deepens the bond you already have with your church, its leaders and the community. If not, it forges something so special and makes for the best memories when you visit that church again. A bride who relocated to a new church after moving from the area told us that her and her husband make it a point to visit the church where they got married once a year. It’s usually for a Christmas or Easter service and it’s a magical feeling reliving such a special moment there.
